yellow pages usually have one or two ad's in there some dealers go to auction's that might allow the general public if you go to one watch what goes on don't buy just watch see how it's done then go back a couple of days later so you have a idea of what to do some auctions might have you sign in first. remember some auctions only allow dealers only so see if they allow the general publicAnyone know an auto auctions around the sacramento or SF bay area ?
they have an auto auction in cordelia, by the saturn dealership on the side of the freeway [right by the truck weigh station]. i don't believe it's open to the public though, only to dealerships or resellers, or something like that.Anyone know an auto auctions around the sacramento or SF bay area ?

I am looking for an new car and my friends keep referring me to tjis particular auction. does anyone know anything about buying from auctions in general, or better, about this auction?Greater detroit auto auction ?
Auctions are good and a good source of bargains but you have to know what you're doing and know how to judge a car's condition by looking it over (you can't drive auction cars). Here's more about it:

hey guys, I'd like to know more about this too. What is this action actually about ? coz I got an email from someone who claims he's a dealer and can take me to auction but charge $500 for his service, licensed, etc. He also said he can give me the wholesale price for a car.

So three things I'd like to know, what is this car auction he's talking about ? is this legit ? stolen cars ?

and what he mean when he says "$500 for service and "LICENSED"...

lastly is what's wholesale price ?

With two thousand dollars, do you go to the auto auction, save, or try and fix the car you have?

take the one you have to sell for salvage and put the extra cash in with what you have already then go find a better car and have a mechanic look at it before you buy it its tax season and people are getting newer cars and selling the old ones rather cheap..

good luck....Auto auction, save, fix the car I have?
If you knew a dealer that would let you go to the auction and you relied on him to check over the car, that would be a solution. Short of that it would be hard to say not knowing what kind of car you have and what it is worth.Auto auction, save, fix the car I have?
Auction otherwise it could be a fun project to try and learn how to fix your car.

    Auto auction question?

do u need to have a membership to buy a car at the auto auction ?Auto auction question?
i own a shop and not if its a public auto auction you don't,you do if its whats called a dealer only auction ,unless you go with a dealer, that's the only exemption from it,but public car auctions you don't have to have a license or be a member you just sign in as a buyer when you go in and the rest of it is bidding on what you want to buy,and hope you don't get burnt too bad on a car, good luck with it hope this helps.
Well it depends on what kind of auction you are in.

If it's public auction, see for registration.

If it's a dealer auction, you need to register as a dealer.

    So.... = )Auto auction question?
Basically what the other people said. If it's a public auction you should be able to attend w/o a dealers license. I know in particular salvation army holds public auctions so you might want to check with them.
Go to www.adviceontime.com and ask the admin, this guy used to be a used car manager at a dealership, he can give you the inside scoop on how all that works.Auto auction question?

Are there financing options for buying a car at a manhiem auto auction?

Go to your local credit union and apply for a loan pre-approval letter. If you have a car in mind, bring the VIN#, Mileage, and condition.

Almost all car auctions allow you to put a deposit on the car ($500.00) to hold the car for 24 hours while you get the check cut by the bank. Are there financing options for buying a car at a manhiem auto auction?

Look under the hood for anything unusual check the oil is it low? too dark? it should be light colored. check the transmission oil: is it red? red is good, or is it dark? look under the car for oil leaks, rust, cracks or damages. Start the car and listen to the engine: does it run smooth or is it rough. try to test drive it: make some U turn right and left and pay attention to any unusual noises, put it in reverse, 4X4 mode and see how it drives. is the transmission shifting smoothly?

keep in mind that after you win the bet on a car you still have to pay taxes, License, auction fees and registration fees based on where you live. it is also a good idea to take a friend with you who know about cars preferably a mechanic that would help too.

Must there be taxes paid on a car you just brought from an auto auction?

Look in the phone book, or the newspaper. There are many auction sites in the southern California area. Whether you get a good deal or not is in question, when buying from an auction. They are high risk for buyers, and an easy way for car dealerships to unload unworthy cars, and salvage vehicles.

What will this car sell for at auto repo auction.?

Im my area an auction every week sells 300-400 cars that have been bank seized. What do you think a 2003 cadillac escalade with 77598 miles would sell for. I just need a prediction from someone who knows cars or have bought them at a repo auction.....What will this car sell for at auto repo auction.?
The average retail value for that vehicle is about $16,500 so at an auction it probably won't go past 10k. Keep in mind though that it is an auction. it could sell for 100k if someone wanted to pay that much for it.

Auto auction in Phoenix, AZ at 13th st & camelback: Take over payments on repo'd cars? Anyone have info?

A friend of mine informed me of an auto auction she heard of taking place sometime in the near future at 13th st. and camelback. The premise of the auction was to be repossessed cars and their remaining payments - There will be a lot with a wide variety of repo cars with payments written on them, and how many payments left. If anyone can direct me to more information, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Auto auction in Phoenix, AZ at 13th st %26amp; camelback: Take over payments on repo'd cars? Anyone have info?
Manheim Auto Auctions sells to dealers at the big PHoenix auto auctions. The auction is on the west side of I-10 just south of University Dr. They sell 1 car every 60 seconds. You need a dealers license to buy, but you can watch. These are repo cars from all 48 states.

The dealers resell these cars to you at the public auction. I have never seen a good deal at the 13 St auction to the public. You would do better to go to any dealership and buy a nice used car with a short warranty..

Are public auto auctions a good venue to purchase used cars?

I am considering using a public auto auction to purchase a late model used car. Are there any sites that are knowledgeable and give real information regarding purchasing from public auto auctions? Are public auto auctions a good venue to purchase used cars?
    Hey Lee,

I would think if you use the precautions that should be used anytime you purchase a used car, that there would be no problem buying from a public auction. Other than checking out the car throughly, don't get caught up in the bidding and pay more than you should.

I will say though, I don't know how easy they are to find, though.

I did find two auction sites that have quite a bit of good information on them. It appears that they are both from the same outfit, as they have similar information. Nevertheless, they do get quite detailed. They are publicautoauctions.com and publicautoauctiononline.com.

Good luck on your search. Are public auto auctions a good venue to purchase used cars?

  • How do i get into an online government auto auction for free?

There are many ways. You can go to GovDeals.com, GSA auctions, USA.gov and other areas to get more info on the area of gov't auctions. Now as for free, it is a little more tricky. But there are sites such as govliquidation.com for free alerts and myhonestmechanic.com for more free government auction advice. I really hope this helps. Now if you are involved in reselling these items you will need good online auction software to sell the items in order to make a profit. Many folks do this and have indeed made quite a profit. There is a lot of info available online. Just keep searching.

Which type of draft is better, auction, auto or snake?

I always wanted to try the Auction draft but the guys in my league keep bucking me on it and it is also hard to get everyone together in one setting. What should I do?Which type of draft is better, auction, auto or snake?
I have not done an auction draft but friends tell me that it is a lot of fun. ESPN had online auction drafts as an option for their leagues this year. You may wish to check that out next year.
Never use auto. It never seems to deliver equitable teams, even when everyone pre-ranks the players.

Auction leagues are very entertaining, but it requires a higher degree of commitment. If everyone is new to auction format, it's not bad, but if you have a veteran of the format, they can really take advantage of the room.

I am a traditionalist. A snake/serpentine draft is proven, and works well in both live and on-line environments. It seems to balance the talent pool, while still allowing players room to speculate and take risks.Which type of draft is better, auction, auto or snake?
I think snake is the most fair way to do it, and most realistic. I have never done auction but I do not really have an interest in it. Auto is not the best choice either, but is nice if you are doing a league that is a little more laid back, and you set your pre draft rankings right. I do not hate it like some people may, I actually sort of like the ability to draft without dedicating the time
Anything but auto... auto sucks, I would want to pick my own players. I prefer auction for baseball, but you gotta have everyone committed to do it.Which type of draft is better, auction, auto or snake?
The best, most fair setting to choose would be: Random/Snaking. This is the setting most people are comfortable with and have seen before. GL.

How much cheaper are dealer auto auctions?

Assuming a used car would be worth $8000-$9000 from an auto dealership, how much could you expect to pay for a similar car at a dealer auction? How much cheaper are dealer auto auctions?
Can't really put an exact figure on that due to the nature of auctions. However, I'd say it's going to be less...and that might STILL be too much!

Understand that auto auctions are far too often the place that "undesirable" vehicles go. That '87 Ford Piecer your buddy traded in for a new car last week? Unless it's pristine and low mileage, the dealership won't turn around and put it on their "pre-owned" lot, they'll send it off to auction and get whatever they can out of it. Almost all of the fly-by-night used car dealerships you see get their cars from auctions, so that should tell you something!

Bear that in mind should you decide to go the auction route. How much cheaper are dealer auto auctions?
it a place for where "undesirable" vehicles go, read source before you buy a vehicle from an auction, it'll help protect you! If you still wanted to get a vehicle from an auction, get everything they say in writing or bring a tape recorder, people there tend to lies! Be sure the title is clear and dont give them your ID or let them force you into signing anything you dont agree on, you have rights!

    How to Enter Auto Auction?

I plan to buy a car, and I was told that in the auctions I will be having more options and better prices.

What is the way to enter the auction?

    Thanks!How to Enter Auto Auction?
it depends on the auctions rules and regulations, first and foremost. alot of auctions, only allow dealers and collectors bid , buy , oor even enter, other have a membership , and theyre are those that anyone can walk in and bid, youll have to get an application and fill it out, get a number, and then go out and look em over before they bring them down teh lane(s) most auctions wont allow inspection when the car is coming down the auction lane(s), its done prior to the car entering the building, KNOW what your buying, then jus go to the lane(s) of your choice. and get ready to bid!How to Enter Auto Auction?
i own a shop, and we go once in a while, all you do is go in and register as a buyer ,and that's it ,some auctions give out numbers but most car auctions don't do this anymore, then you go to what ever line your going to buy from, and wait till they start bringing the cars through, and bid on one you like,if you go early enough, you can walk through the lot and look them over,if I'm going to go to one i always go early enough to see a few that i might be interested in,be careful though,if you don't know much about cars ,you can get burnt so bad at an auction that you wont ever want to go again,i have been lucky so far ,i always look all of them over real good before buying, but i have seen a few that wouldn't have took them if they was giving them away, take someone with you that knows about cars, you can actually have fun at a car sale, good luck i hope this help,s.How to Enter Auto Auction?
Except for auctions listed as "public auction" most other auto auctions require you to have a dealers license.
you pay a deposit to get a bidder's number and then you can bid on the car you like. they generally cost one hundred and you will be re-imbursed if you do not but a car. if you buy one, consider that like a down payment because you have until the next day to pay for your purchase at most of them. be sure to go a few days early so you can view the cars and know what you are getting yourself into. check under cars for oil leaks and other fluids. look and see how clean the engine compartment is. take notice if it looks like it has been sitting for a while because this could indicate a serious problem such as tranny or engine replacement. look for water damage inside. there are diamonds in the rough out there. i paid twenty dollars for a 1981 honda prelude that no one else wanted to bid on. it had a dented fender and needed a heater core but it only needed a jump and some gas to drive home where my neighbor bought it the same day for five hundred dollars. i have gone other times and people bid the cars up high so that they are not worth buying. the key is to not go at the beginning of the month or at tax time because there are far too many buyers.

I plan on buying my car at the auto auction!!?

I only have 1400 to spend and my last resort is the auction. Am i making a right decision by going there???I plan on buying my car at the auto auction!!?
Auction buyers beware. As a previous body shop tech and car dealer I will tell you that yes you can find a great deal at the auction but is it? I have personally seen vehicles that were totalled out have cosmetic work done on them so that you couldn't tell unless you knew what you were looking for. Also when you buy a vehicle from the auction you have to take the sellers word as to the mechanical condition. You might be able to buy that newer car for the $1400 you have but when you get it home might have to spend another grand or two on it just to drive it. Most auction cars are sold as is. Auctions are another way to get rid of that undocumented Flood car that has been dried out and had all the fluids changed to hide its history. Depending on where you are I would suggest going to a buy here pay here lot or get financing on a car from a reputable dealer. There are plenty of vehicles out there from private owners also within your price range. As with any vehicle before you buy it have it checked out and don't believe all those CarFax reports. I have seen wrecks show up clean on those reports. Their info is only as good as the info provided to them by insurance or repair shops.
If you deside to do this take some one w/you that knows about cars so they can check under the hood or maybe test drive it for unusual sounds so you wont get stuck w/ an lemon?

I have not personally went to an auction, but have had personal friends that have. For 1400 you should be able a very good car. You best bet is to go to an auction on the worst weatherd day (ie rain or snow) because there is a lot less people and you will be able to get a better car for cheaper. I hope this helps some and don't forget to browse a few auctions first.
Going to an auction is a good idea but the only problem is if you have a problem with that car a few weeks or days after you get it....you can't go back to the auction. And then again for $1,400.00 you can't be real picky. Good luck.

go to a auto auction and start asking some one to help you buy a car or a truck

and you are wlling to pay for the help any where from 100 dollars to a thound dollars depends on what you are getting.

now that should not take but a few minutes

when you have found your man or woman get there business card

and make an apointment with them at there place of business.

they should not care, if they do move on to someone else that will meet you at there place of business

now when you have a time and place where to meet your new best friend ,ask them if they could have a list of cars from where they do there buying.

this should not be a problem all dealers have thoses list

and they will have more than one ( that is good. ) they buy at more than one auto auction. ok you are done there for today

go home and think about what typ of car or truck you want you should not have to much of a problem there

now when you meet with your new best friend (nbf) tell him or her what you have set your eyes on also tell your (nbf) what amount you are willing to spend this will help him find the best place to shop for your new car or truck also that you want to be there at the auction when the purches is made . not to worry he can get you in

when he has found just what you want have him or her take you over so you can check it out.

you have found the car or truck that you just must have!!!!

this is when you have some one else check it out

at most auto auctions they have someone there independant from the auction that will do that for a small feeof 25 to 50 dollars spend the money it is worth it

now remember,( as all of this happenes) to buy lunch ( hot dog????)

for your new best friend (nbf ) and when it is all over and you have that new bright red chevy 4x4 and you have paid your (nbf) his money

he now could be a friend and one you want to keep

    hope this helps

I think the poster means an auction where you can see what cars will be available online, before attending the auction so you know if theres anything you'd be interested in. I live in L.A. and we have Ken Porter Auctions that does this. I don't live out there though so im sorry I cant help much more than that. Should i get a car from the auto auction?

Just remember that the reason the car is at the auction is because someone traded it in to a dealership and the dealership they traded it do didn't think they'd make any money off of it because they didn't feel it was worth very much.Should i get a car from the auto auction?
I would not recommend it. Alot of times, these cars have serious problems that you are responsible for fixing. As well, there are NO returns (usually) because you buy them "as-is."
I've seen cheap cars come out of auto auctions, but the odds are more likely you'll end up with garbage. Many of the cars in auto auctions require some major work. If you are looking for a car to learn and work on then an auto auction may be a good place to pick up an inexpensive car.

If you're looking for one to use and drive, you're better off checking out sites like

http://www.craigslist.orgShould i get a car from the auto auction?
A lot of dealers cars come from there.
If you do MAKE SURE you take someone with experience with cars. If they sell it AS IS thats exactly what you get. You most certainly though can get good cars from an auction. Just be careful and at all cost take someone with mechanical knowledge with you. If you don't have access to a person with that kinda knowledge you might be better off dealing with a car lot where as you can probably get a limited warranty. Even 90 days warranty is better than having none. Best of Luck to you.Should i get a car from the auto auction?

Is it worth paying a dealer $250 to take you to a auto auction to buy a car?

I dont understand why you keep posting the same question over and over

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>

But, since you are recycling questions, I will recycle my answer:

Dealers are not supposed to do this. But lets face it, they do it all the time.

Yes, its worth $250 if he is selling you the car at his cost. It will be much cheaper than buying at retail. Just remember that the dealer and the auction have NO connection to the car after you bid. Y ou own it, warts and all. So make sure you are getting something you like and that is dependableIs it worth paying a dealer $250 to take you to a auto auction to buy a car?
Just getting into a auto auction, is, by itself, not going to help you too much.

If the dealer is willing to guide you through the process, and help you inspect vehicles, I'd have to say it is well worth the $250. Believe me, if the dealer bought the car himself, and sold it to you at the dealership, the markup would be FAR more than $250.

You should know that ALL dealer auto auctions forbid such behavior, and, if the dealer was caught bringing a retail customer onto the property, he, or she, would most certainly lose his or her right to ever go back.

When I worked the auctions, it wasn't uncommon to see dealers enter the auction, only to back track to the fences, and throwing the pass over the fence to a "guest".

It is not likely that the dealer will refund your money should you not find a vehicle. He will have done his part, and whether or not you actually purchase a vehicle is not his problem.

    http://usedcarsale.com

    Good luck to you.
It depends on the auction, tons of people go to semi private auctions and pay more than cars are worth. If it's an auction with franchise dealers who know the business, yes you can save a ton of money. Everyone thinks just because they get a used car dealer license they know cars, that's not the case.Is it worth paying a dealer $250 to take you to a auto auction to buy a car?
If that's your only option to become a registered buyer, it could save you a lot more than the $250 if you're lucky enough to score a decent vehicle at a typical auction price - which is generally significantly lower than the retail value.
no, I go every once and awhile with a used-car dealer friend and i cant imagine paying to go. Im sure you can find someone to go with for nothing. Is it worth paying a dealer $250 to take you to a auto auction to buy a car?
I'd consider paying it if they refunded the money in the event that I didn't find a car I wanted

I am looking to buy a car at an auto auction. any recommendations or advice??

I am located in New yORK . suggestions on where the auctions take place?I am looking to buy a car at an auto auction. any recommendations or advice??
If you have unlimited resources and a way of getting to bid at the auction maybe OK, but auctions are usually limited to car dealers, salvage vehicle re-builders, and collectors, I am sure that you have a friend of a friend to a friend that is more than willing to bid for you and then will walk away with $50-$100 of your money for bidding for you. ( maybe there is a auction that is open to the general public some where but I have no idea where)

    Please remember;

You are buying as is, and that is final!

99% of the time you will not get a chance to start the vehicle up.

There is a reason why that vehicle is being sold at the auction.

Cars to stay away from are ALL OF THE MUSCLE CARS.

Cars are sent out of the south where there has been a bunch of flooding, a flood car is worthless.

Best buy and might be worth taken a chance on the rest of the car is a model that is only one or two years old and has been rolled, with minimal front and rear end damage. Your question to me should be WHY? So I will tell you. A rolled vehicle is always totaled. minimal damage to front and back means the motor is not hurt and it also means that maybe the only thing that you are going to need to do is replace the roof and a little tweaking. If the vehicle was rolled it also mean that the vehicle was maybe nothing wrong with it but having been rolled. Once you have finished the work on it then you will have to get a salvage title on it. So as long as you are the only one to own it it will look great and run well but when ever you get ready to trade it in it will bring very little

Muscle Cars, at the auction are 99% junk leave them for Chip Foss and Barry White
I have to agree, do not buy a car for yourself at the auction. The best cars are the ones through factory sales which you must be a dealer to purchase. Another thing with the auction is that you have very little time to inspect the car, can't run a carfax, can't have a mechanic look at it, etc. Buy a car retail from a private party, that way you'll have time to properly inspect the car and insure you a getting a good one.I am looking to buy a car at an auto auction. any recommendations or advice??
Don't do it unless you have the knowledge to fully inspect the car for mechanical problems. Trust is one thing missing at the auto auction.

Most auctions sell cars that need work. And there is no policy that allows for returns or money back if you buy a piece of junk.
u can search and find out the price of car from the google website, below i have wrote a link of google website search that will help u.

Auto auctions are not the place to buy an automobile for yourself they are a place for dealers to get rid of there junk or problem vehicles. Dealers are masters at covering up defects from other dealers who are trained to spot them my advice is don't do it
im not really sure where any are down there. Get yourself a muscle car, well i guess it depends on your price range. What i want to buy is a 1970 chevelle ss with a 454. Or like a camaro with a 327. HOOHRAH.

It gives a comprehensive list from various sources so that you have an idea about what's there in the market right now.

Not only it provides used car listings from all major online sites but also searches local dealers inventory for used cars and your local newspaper ads. Hence the listing is very comprehensive. Its a little slow as it pulls data from many sites right when you click the button, so that you get you up to-date listing, but its worth it as you don't have to look at many sites.
http://www.mycarauctionreview.com has a couple of car auction sites you can go to. You can also look on craigslist.com for some cheap cars. But watch about because a lot of them need repairs.

it depends what you choose and who's there that wants the car as bad as you do? If your lucky, you might see a car that not to many people are trying to compete with and you could walk away with it only spending $1000!!!! But then again, if you look at a nice looking car then it's a 50 to 50 chance you might walk away with it depending on how bad the other person wants it and how much money your willling to fight him with. How much does a car usually cost at an auto auction?
It depends on the auction and the car could be a few hundred to over a million dollars.

Police auctions are always advertised in the newspaper in the legal notices section of the classified ads.

But don't expect to find a decent car at a police auction. Not many low class criminals are driving around in nice cars. The good cars that are impounded are all reclaimed by their owners, the junk that's left is just that, real junk. Not worth the cost of the impound fees.

Auto AUCTIONS: Any advice, caveats, or pitfalls to watch out for, when purcasing a car at Auction ?

You can get great deals, or get burned it appears. At Auctions, you can only start the car, but are prohibited from driving it. Any TIPS for buying a vehicle at Auction ?Auto AUCTIONS: Any advice, caveats, or pitfalls to watch out for, when purcasing a car at Auction ?
Check the fluids. Oil should not have the"milky" look, as that shows water in the oil. Check the transmission fluid. It should be red and not smell burnt.

Start the car, with the parking brake on, and your foot on the brake, put the car in gear (automatic) it should go in without a noise or a jerk, both into drive and reverse. With a manual transmission, but it in gear and slowly let up on the clutch to see how the clutch feels.

Listen for abnormal noises in the engine. Walk around the car and look for paint that does not match, or signs of body damage Look for abnormal wear on the tires, which could be a sign of suspension or front end problems.

Set a price for the car. Base your price on what the car would be worth at a retail lot, and deduct the cost of any work it will need. Allow for the value of your time. You also have to allow for the possibility that more repairs will be needed you think!

    Good luck

Hey I was wandering if I should buy a car at a auto auction? Was wandering what everyones experience was with auctions I'm in desperate need of a new car and will be paying cash with my tax money... was looking for some advice about auctions im just so scared of buying a piece of junk that might break down on me.....thanks everyone for your answers..Should I buy a car at an auto auction?
I buy from auctions, but not eBay but actual dealer's acution. N omatter where you go 99.9% of dealer's used cars are from auctions.as that's we buy them from. only 0.1% are trade-ins. If youask dealer to buy from Green lights auction,it has 3 day warranty for any hidden damages. Don't buy red light or yellow light ,as even for dealer it is AS IS ,with problems and will break down maybe same day after you pay for it. Just my 2 centsShould I buy a car at an auto auction?
I think it will be better if you wait for sometime. Because the problem which are very dangerous come to know after 3 to 4 months. You can see Toyota corolla hadgot very dangerous problem of accident.Should I buy a car at an auto auction?
Probably not. If you can get it, the cars are either junk or overpriced.
not wise for the inexperienced mechanic ... go to a dealer and make the guarantee a part of the sales contract --- that is the only way to make it legal and binding... used cars are plenty and some have problems and your only protection from costly repair bills is to get the warranty written into the sales contract == if the dealer won't give you any warranty then go to another place to spend your money on another car....

It all depends on who now holds the title. If the insurance company or IAA holds the title then technically it's their car. The money you were awarded or guaranteed is based on the normal stuff being on the car: radio, wheels, engine, tranny, etc ...'cause this is the stuff the wrecking yard is going to salvage from the car to sell and make a profit off the $1275 they paid you for your now pile of junk.

You can try it, but don't be surprised if they (insurance company or IAA or both) garnish your payout 'cause you took some high value items. Can I remove my cd player, rims, intake ,etc before the Auto Insurance Auction comes to tow my car away?
If you own the vehicle outright, you can remove whatever you want - the only restrictions would be (1) if you agreed to sell it as a complete vehicle or (2) if removal of components will decrease the sales price of the vehicle
if it is being taken to an auto wrecker then you can take whatever you want out of or off of it, unless you have already signed the car over to the wrecker. Can I remove my cd player, rims, intake ,etc before the Auto Insurance Auction comes to tow my car away?
you can remove whatever you added

or what stuff you didnt list on car when you got insurance
dude you can do what you want!
    take everything off hurry up!

Auto Auction What is the recipe for buying?

Have an amount that you will absolutely not go over. Wait til the last 2 minutes or so depending on how fast you internet is. Put in you high bid and WALK AWAY this is to ensure you do not pay more than you want to. Then come back in 10 minutes when you know the auction is over and hope that you won it. If not you keep looking and you keep bidding with the same idea. Sometime you have got to win. If ya keep losing than your probably not willing to pay enough for such a nice car. Hope this helps.Auto Auction What is the recipe for buying?

They All Have Low Mileage... And Most Have Clean Titles...How do I know I can trust this auto auction?
These kinds of sites DO NOT actually auction cars -- they sell lists or directories of auctions, which can often be inaccurate or out of date. You would do better to look for the auctions on your own. Here's more about it:

    http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/carau…

.How do I know I can trust this auto auction?
Here is a simple fact. You can't trust any website that promises low mileage almost new vehicles at unbelievable low prices. Especially a site that isn't even selling cars. All this site does is sell you access to auction websites.

I wouldn't pay anyone $40 just to look at a list of used cars for sale.

I am a wholesaler. I generally don't buy junk. Car auctions charge about $200 in fees for every car sold regardless of price, this fee is split between the seller and the buyer. Can't help you with that, but I found a truck on e-bay which was posted by a local dealer %26amp; got a really good deal. You might want to check that out, too. Keep in mind that at an auction, they have "professional bidders" who are there only to drive up the price if they know someone is interested in a particular vehicle, so have a price set which is as far as you'll go. Everyone is trying to get rid of their 2007's now.

Is it really worth it to pay $250 for a dealer to take you to a auto auction?

    My budget is $4k

    And i need a suv

I'm afraid i might be out bid.Is it really worth it to pay $250 for a dealer to take you to a auto auction?
Dealers are not supposed to do this. But lets face it, they do it all the time.

Yes, its worth $250 if he is selling you the car at his cost. It will be much cheaper than buying at retail. Just remember that the dealer and the auction have NO connection to the car after you bid. Y ou own it, warts and all. So make sure you are getting something you like and that is dependable
No, not at all. I'm not sure if auctions work differently where you live, but at all the auction houses near where I live you just go there by yourself and bid on cars, you don't need a pay a dealer hundreds to go with you. I'd be careful of cars you find at auctions anyway, they aren't always cheaper, and they are often cars that were repossesed, and they might not have such a good history. Is it really worth it to pay $250 for a dealer to take you to a auto auction?
Really, that would be violating all action rules and that dealer would be banned from attending that auction. Dealer auctions are for dealers only.
No. Beside that you have no license to buy the car at the auction and they don't know you.Is it really worth it to pay $250 for a dealer to take you to a auto auction?

Count on cars going for about low blue book value. You need to take lots of money to the auction. Auto auction in san jose area?
I brought my first car from an auction and saved about $3,000. It only cost me $2,800 after the auction fees, taxes, registration etc. Most of the cars are in good condition but it's always a good idea to give a good inspection before you bid on it. All you need to bring with you is your driver's license and some money to pay for the car. Check out http://www.mycarauctionreview.com if you need to find some auctions near you.

Does any one know EXACTLY what to do and what's required to get a auto auction license in Louisiana???

Any and all details will help such as age requirements, payments, bond information.....I'd appreciate useful and related answers only...ThanxDoes any one know EXACTLY what to do and what's required to get a auto auction license in Louisiana???
Theres is no easy process. It's all steps.

I believe you have to be 18 maybe 21 in your state.

You have to apply for dealers license with Motor vehicle. You have to apply for business license, you will have to determine what kind of business you will be (LLC, Corporation, etc) you have to most likely also apply for the department of revenue license to be a licensed dealer. You will have to undergo several background checks as well as fingerprinting, which can be done at the local police department. Not to mention it also helps to get your Notary certification. This is all on top of the $100,000.00 bond that has to be renewed each year at the cost of about $3000.00 per year. At least it does for me! That is just off the top of my head... And oh by the way it takes anywhere from 6 months to a year. Then you can have a dealers license and buy cars at auctions!

Dude Stay Away from that place, its nothing but a scam. trusmt i lived in glenwood, IL just next door to Harvey IL. Harvey is a ghetto high crime area. Ive heard very bad things about that place. In fact im pretty sure they are getting sued. First ive heard they dont let u drive or inspect the vehicles before the auction, also ive heard they jack the prices up by having people who work there bid on the vehicles to jack the price up. I also heard horror stories of people getting the cars in a difertn condition then when they saw it ie. like having thier dorrs welded shut. Or a window falling between the track and smashin, do Just Google it and it will tell you everything u wanna know. My advice is to never buy a car from thier period no matter what the circumstances. To check and see if you have compression coming out of the fill cap. If you have oil blowing out which is called blowby the motor needs to be rebuilt as the rings on the pistons are shot. Why do people open the oil cap when they are in a auto auction?

If I was going to bid on a car at an auction, I'd be taking the oil cap off to look inside and see if the engine is full of sludge. This could be an indicator of how well the maintenance was kept up on the vehicle and it would effect my decision on if I wanted to bid on it or not. You can tell a lot by looking under the oil cap.

I mean, I don't think one needs a national security clearance or anything just to find out. But I do think you have to have a wholesaler's license to go to some of them. But not ALL of them.

"taking advantage"? Only if you agree to pay that price.

The price he paid at auction would not typically be that low on an 04 Jeep though, so how do you arrive at that number?

Also, Keep in mind that there are other costs. Lets say he DID buy that Jeep for $3000 (which I highly doubt). Maybe it needed a new engine and/or tranny - thats why it was so cheap. Maybe it was recovered from a theft and had to have the interior and ignition rebuilt - happens all the time.

So I would like to know (a) how you arrived at that auction number, and (b) what other costs were involved in the purchase.

We dastardly evil dealers cant "take advantage" of someone who does not sign a contract. Until you agree to a price, nothing happens.

On a car that is retailed at $14,900, I would expect dealer cost to be $10-12,000Auto dealer buys 5 yr old jeep at auction, What is the normal purchase ratio of actual dealer cost?

We try to make as much as we can on used car sales. It's one of the few profit centers left in the industry. I doubt they are making as much as you think, though. It's rare to make more than about $3-4000 on a deal. Good luck.
I really doubt the bought a 5 year old Jeep for 3000. There's nothing wrong with profit as long as you feel you're getting a great deal. Just base your purchase on KBB.

Ebay Question: What is the best day of the week and time of day to end an auto auction on Ebay?
I'm on ebay everyday. I've sold a few items. Bougt hundreds of items for my business. My personal opinion is definetlly not during the week. I would pick a time when you think the most amount of people are home. So I think Sunday evening before people go to bed. I'd say 9 pm central. People wait til the very last second to bid on an item. If someone has to be in bed before 10 pm eastern. They'll stay up to bid on your car.

Unless you actually know somebody, it is going to be hard to get someone to do this for you. Dealers really mark up the price of cars, so it wouldn't be logical for them to take people with them to get discounted prices.Auto auction?
I'm an auctioneer and appraiser, I don't do auto auctions, but I have friends that do.

Here's a great way to get into an auto auction, but it may take a visit or two.

At these auctions the dealers always need a driver or two to bring back a car. Up here in MA, the dealers are allowed to bring up to 2 drivers per auction at most of these auctions.

Visit the auction, stay outside the gates and advertise that you are a driver looking for work. It will help if you have a good driving record and can prove it. Bring your insurance papers.

The starting bid can be any number. I have seen auctions where the starting bid is all the car is worth and others where it is very under value. The starting bid doesn't mean a thing...it is where the auctioneer get bids flowing...whether he starts a 100 or 10,000 doesn't matter at all.

The only bid that matters in an auction is the final bid.

How do you obtain an auto auction license in Texas?

    www.dmv.tx.gov/vehicles/dealers/licensin鈥?

Google found that in about three seconds; try it some time.

How much money (percentage) can I expect to save at an auto auction versus buying from dealer?

Depends on the value of the car and the experience of the bidder and your ability to quickly determine its mechanical condition.

On a $1000 wholesale piece you might save a lot on a % basis, but on a $15-20-25k+ car the % would be less but lots more on a $ basis.

Most auctions open to the public aren't worth bothering with. (Mostly problem cars)

But, even at dealer only auctions, you can pay retail if you don't know what you are doing.

The auctioneer works for the seller, His job is to try and sell cars.

That can %26amp; often does mean "pretending" others are bidding when its only you.

Don't get me wrong, you can get good deals at them. But you can also get cars that blow up on the way home despite running %26amp; driving perfect before the auction.

That's happened to me with both motors %26amp; transmissions. And I don't think the seller did anything to either of them. It just happened. Its rare if you do your homework but it can and if it does, its 100% your problem.

    No refunds.

Auctions are for grown-ups with a tolerance for risk.

Think of it like having no full coverage insurance or a high deductible, you pay less upfront but you accept more risk. How much money (percentage) can I expect to save at an auto auction versus buying from dealer?
if you don't have a dealers licesne you can't buy from an auction.

But expect to save 30% or more if you can get into an auction and bid.

Has anyone ever bought a car through an auto auction?

What was the experience like for YOY?|||Exciting. I got the car that I bid on also. Of course it was a many year ago.|||Umm , i have never done that but just wanted to tell you that you can get cars on auction from, http://carauctions.deals-guide.com

Have you ever been to an Auto Auction?

Any tips? I would really like to know what I am getting myself into.|||you need to have cash available, look over the autos very carefully and if you have a mechanic friend, take him with you. It's tempting to want to bid on the first car you like but try to wait until the best one for you comes up for bid.|||Auto Auction is one of the Chapters in the DVD movie Money Talks|||Dont go! Location in or around Tacoma for police auction auto car?

Where is the location for car auction in or around Tacoma?

I want to know if police or government has any auctions where they sell seized cars?

If police is not directly involved in auction, how do they get rid of vehicles they have seized? do they give it to towing company? and those towing company has auctions ? or police is having those auctions at a particular location?|||vikasintl, I found a review of several auto auction and government seized sites. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Governme鈥?/a> These sites can probably answer your questions. However they cost a small fee to join, but I couldn't find any free resources online. Since the vehicles are always being sold, your signup fee is probably used to employ people to keep the site up to date.

What should I pay on average at a auto auction for a nissan altima or maxima 2002?

Just remember at auction the car is as is and no one who cared for it to talk to. Many times I see auction cars that has been involved in a major accident and the paint is still smelling like thinners. Four brand new inexpensive tires another way to hide suspension and tire wear issues. Be very careful. Make sure you have owners manuals in the glove box and jack and spare tire lug wrench in the trunk. A 28 thousand LE maxima 6 years old two body style changes old should go for around 3,500 to 4,200 dollars. Altima's approx 500 less get the V-6 engine if possable|||go to www.nada.com and get a value then minus at least 2k - 5k at an auction price.

Buying a car from auto auction?

I know when purchasing a car from a auction you buy as is. But I think I have been beat. The car overheated before I could get out of the auction parking lot, and it appears that water is in the motor oil. Do I have grounds to get my money back or am I stuck?|||Sadly, I'm afraid you might be stuck. Generally, as-is means "as-is". The benefit of an auction is you can pick up a car for cheaper... mainly because the purchaser's ability to scrutinize the car is limited and is taking a risk. You try to minimize the risk by looking at the car closely as possible before bidding (that's why they have the cars available for viewing before bidding starts). If you didn't do your due-dilligence beforehand, you really have no one to blame but yourself.|||Probably not, but it won't hurt to try. I assume you already paid and signed papers. Did you pay by check? Stop the check. Pay by credit card? Reverse the charge.|||You can't stop your check; that's illegal.

You can try having it arbitrated or reject it.

Are the cars at a goodwill auto auction worth buying?

whe i ask if there worth it, i mean are they not gonna break down in a day or week, like, are they worth trying to purchase. appreciate the help :) thanks in advance!|||If you are asking about cars auctioned off by Goodwill Industries, the registered charity, most of them are older cars with problems that were donated by people who no longer want to deal with them. They are classified as DNR (Does Not Run), DNM (Runs but does not move) or RM (Runs %26amp; Moves).

There are no warranties or guarantees of any kind, other than that the titles are clear of liens. Some may run for many years with care while others will break down a mile or two down the road. You don't get to test drive them and inspections are limited to what you can see from ground level without disassembling anything. You pay your money and take your chances.|||TFTP

    |||I always buy a used car and do my research. I personally would not advise you purchase at a goodwill auction unless in a very rare case you found it to have a clean car fax history. Car fax on a car is found on line at car fax.com by entering the serial number of a specific car for a fee. I think your chances are better off purchasing from an individual (have them pay to pull a car fax on their vehicle they are selling) and ask to see any receipts they have (on oil changes, tires purchased, work done, etc). Trust your gut on the reliability of what the individual is telling you. If you don't really know if you can trust your own instinct, then find a friend or co-work who you trust has good judgment to go look at the vehicle of an individual with you for their insight. It's always smart to have someone go along with you that you trust when making any car purchase. Don't get taken up in urgency to buy the first one you see. Always sleep on it. If it "gets away", it wasn't yours and yours is still waiting for you to find it :) Hope this helps

Is it beneficial to purchase a car at an auto auction?

    Yes and No...................

    1. You need to have someone with you or hire a mechanic to look at the car.

    2. You can save alot on these cars.

    3. You get what you pay for.

    4. All sales are final, no returns.

I need someone who has gone to the San Antonio Police auto auction.?

I need to know the process and if the cars are worth buying from there.|||I have gone a few times and there is a lot of junk there, but there is usually a few good deals. You have to get there before 9:45 to register so you can go in the gate. The auction is usually over by noon and you have to have the vehicle off the lot by the next day. The vehicles don't have the keys so you cant start them, and you have to get a key made after the auction. If you have any more questions, let me know.

If theres anybody that stays in the dmv that has purchased a vehicle from branch ave auto auction?

could you let me know there website.i heard u can bid on a car over the internet, if you know help a brotha out, thanks|||http://dc.kudzu.com/merchant/12578776.ht鈥?/a>

    just type in the name.

Is it a good idea to goto the auto auction to buy a car I live in San Diego?

not unless your able to look at a car and evaluate with your head not your heart the condition and road worthiness of a vehicle.

they have some good deals and they have a lot of trash.

if your able to tell the difference just by looking go for it.|||yes thats where used car dealers go to buy their cars sometimes they get them real cheap there and then jack up the prices at the dealerships thats what i would do if i were you, some times they just buy the left overs which are really good cars they get them for about 5 grand and jack the price up to 12 grand|||yes it is... and there u can get good car in cheap price... there r so many reasion for put car in auction but as long as i know u can find good car from auctions...|||It's a good place to buy a car if you can make the right decision in 30 seconds....that's all the time you will have to bid on the car.

Preparation is the key to buying at auction. Get there early, inspect alot of cars that you are interested in...make a list with the run number of the cars and the maximum you would go for each...remember there is a buyers fee when you set the maximum you would pay.

Follow your notes when the sale starts. Go to the cars you picked prior to the sale and STICK TO YOUR MAXIMUM BID...don't get caught up in the action and do something you will regret.

Good luck|||There can be some good deals at car auctions, but you need to be careful. Before going this route, I'd suggest this information on the pros and cons of auctions, how to avoid the cars in bad condition, locating them, and so forth:

Where can I find an auto auction in the Boston area? Preferably south of Boston.?

I am new to the Boston area and I need to find where the premier car auctions are. Any advice or information is helpful, thank you.|||Premier Car auctions are in England not Massachusetts. In Boston there are several car auctions but they are for dealers only and they are very strict about allowing only dealers. Any public, salvage or lein sale auctions are either scams or are not for a regular person looking for a car. Try buying cars from private parties. You will find ads in autotrader.com or craigslist.com|||Public auctions do exist, you just need to find them. I would suggest asking around your city hall, court house, police department, and other similar places. Not all of them are scams, but it is very hard to find something worth buying. I would suggest if you really do want to go this route to bring a mechanic friend with you to look at the vehicles before you bid.

Is there a good or big AUTO AUCTION place in Southern California open to public?

The vast majority of good %26amp; big auctions ANYWHERE are not open to the public but to dealers only.

However, do an auction search in your areas and call around. While most will be dealer only auctions they might know of some that are open to the public.

Typically, the ones open to the public are not very good or big. mostly very small with mostly low end "clunkers" being sold.|||http://autoauctionexpress.com/auto-aucti鈥?/a>

What is one of the best deals that you've gotten from an auto auction on a newer vehicle? dealer or public?

I live in the mid-Michigan area I am going to purchase a car soon and was just curious to know what is possible.|||As far as a dealer auction you're out of luck they are not for the general public. However, if you happen to know a buyer you could easily slip around that policy. The public auction is your best bet compared to a dealership. You can get terrific deals. For cash.|||they both have great deals

i go to auctions 3 times a week

sometimes you can get good cars at public impound auctions they hold theres once a month.

transmission shop also sells car cheap check it out

How much can I get a corvette at a salvage auto auction ?

Can some body give me an idea of how much a C5 or C6 corvette will run me? I have 9k and want to see what I can get my hands.|||You won't get one for $9k. You won't get one for $9. You won't get one for $900k. By the time the make it to the junk yard, it won't be worth much. It will already be parted out. But I'm sure the junk yard dealer will sell you a junked one for $9k.

Now, for a regular auto auction, you'll probably be paying at or slightly above blue book depending upon the year and condition of the 'vette. Look up the blue book value and see what you might expect to pay for any particular year model and condition.

    C5 was made between 1997 and 2004

    C6 was made between 2005 and 2012

Dealer: 1997 C5 in excellent condition will run you $12,000%26gt; Later years and models will be more.

Private: $8,800 in poor condition. That's about what you'll get with $9,000. Maybe 1 or 2 years later model.|||Depending on the mileage, you'll get between 17,000 and 45,000

the $17,000 corvette has about 80,000 miles and the $45,000 corvette has about 7,000 miles.

If you want the best deal, I suggest the Manheim Auction. They have the best cars and many dealers including Straightline Auto etc. use them to purchase cars. Good Luck|||salvage auto auction should never be an option. Once a car has been "salvaged" you can NOT get a tag for it. It becomes for parts use only.

Now if you have the money you can get a rebuilt title for a salvaged car. You can not do the work on it yourself though. You have to go through your states DMV, find state approved repair shop, haul car to them and have them repair everything wrong with car.. Pretty much restore it to like new.

Them you set up a dated/time with DMV, pay a fee and have it inspected, if it passes you then pay the fee for a rebuilt tile and in 4 to 6 weeks you will get a title that says rebuilt across it. You then can get a tag for car and drive it on the roads.

Resell on said car will be about 40% of worth just due to the rebuilt title. Even though its been repired, most people will NOT want to buy one with a rebuilt title.

Junkyard is also not an option. By the time it makes it to a junkyard and gets picked over it will cost you $20K to replace all the missing parts

You will NOT get a driveable C5 for $9,000

In my area an early C5 (97-99) will run you in the $11,000 to 15,000 range.. Here's a few
